New Orleans police said Friday that they arrested a man in the death of a woman who was found fatally injured at a park in New Jersey on Saturday.
Police said 30-year-old Eric Gaudreault was taken into custody Friday and charged with second-degree murder in the May 16 death of Jessica Lee, a woman from New Jersey.
She had recently returned to New York from Florida with a friend after spending a weekend in New Orleans, police said in a statement.
Her death was ruled a homicide and her body was found Saturday morning at a secluded spot near the park.
Gaudreaux was booked into New York City’s Nassau County jail, where he was being held on $250,000 bail.
Police were searching for Gaudleault’s accomplices in the case, who were described as black or Hispanic men, ages 18 to 25.
The victims’ families declined to comment.
Geddreault is the second New Orleans officer to be charged in the shooting of a Black man.
Police said last week that another officer shot a Black teenager after he pulled out a gun during a traffic stop.
